At Home

Home as a concept is much deeper that simply ‘house I live in’ – it encompasses a sense of connection to place, of belonging, of feeling secure and ‘at home’ in a place.

This project brought together a number of very different groups and perspectives to explore these notions and participant’s experiences of creating a sense of being at home.

At Home was facilitated by two highly respected Aboriginal artists – Vicki West from Tasmania and Maree Clarke from Victoria. Vicki and Maree engaged with a number of different communities including the Northern Suburbs Community Centre in Mowbray and various refugee groups to create a public space installation in Princes Square which incorporated textiles, images and night time projections.
